This is the original version by Estes.  It was later rereleased as #1236. Estes also released a #2001 Saturn V, which is a reissue of the Centuri Saturn V, and a #2157 Saturn V, which can be described as a kit that offers the best of both Saturn V’s.

The neat thing with the original release is that it uses an engine module.  The one that came with the kit was designed to use three regular engines, and a single D engine module was made available as an option.

This rocket was given to me by a friend at work who bought this back in 68/69. He remembers saving up for this and riding his bike to the hobby shop. As with many of us, projects get started, things happens, and they are left undone for a while. Although I am missing some of the smaller detail parts, most of the rocket has been completed and needs only some minor work to complete.  With the power of the internet, I have downloaded the manual for this kit, along with the fin templates, decals, and other needed items.  It is really nice to own part of rocket history, both as a model for the real life Saturn V, and as a collectors piece.
